Expect therapy to be a non-linear process. When we first touch on deep issues, it will be uncomfortable as most people are used to repressing or distracting themselves from thinking about these things. It may even feel worse before it feels better. This is okay, and very normal.
Treating deeply ingrained emotional wounds is not easy work.
Your therapist will be the professional making sure you are not subject to more discomfort than you can handle. Your therapist will also be giving you tools and building on your own strengths to avoid or mitigate future emotional wounds.
